''Celebra La Vida Con Salud,'' National Hispanic Health Campaign Makes Official Tour Stop in Los Angeles

The 2006 national Hispanic health campaign, "Celebra La Vida Con Salud" (Celebrate a Healthy Life) makes an official tour stop in Los Angeles this weekend. Celebra equips Hispanics with information on nutrition, preventive care and treatment for health issues impacting the Hispanic community. Celebra also offers festival participants free medical screenings -- a first step toward good health.
WHAT: Celebra La Vida Con Salud - National Hispanic health festival dedicated exclusively to health promotion and illness prevention in major Hispanic markets. WHEN: Saturday, November 18 10:00 AM - 4:00 PM WHERE: Westside Park 2061 Gage Avenue Huntington Park, CA 90255 WHY: Hispanics have disproportionately high rates of several major illnesses and diseases including HIV/AIDS, heart disease, diabetes, stroke, obesity and cancers.
The Celebra health festival addresses these health issues and provides information about national and local consumer resources available to Hispanics in Los Angeles.
Private, public sector, media and community-based partners and sponsors join together in reaching this important population.
Private partners include NikeGo, Terra.com, ESPN-Deportes and the American Red Cross Blood Services Southern California Region. Local partners, that will be providing medical screenings for cholesterol, glucose, blood pressure, body mass index (BMI), and HIV/AIDS include, AltaMed Health Services, AIDS Healthcare Foundation, East Los Angeles Men's Health Center, Bienvenidos Children's Center. Other community partners include UC Davis University of California and the California Department of Health Services.
