NEW YORK, Nov. 16 /PRNewswire/ — America is stressed. That’s according to a recent survey conducted by the country’s leading non-profit mental health organization-Mental Health America, formerly known as the National Mental Health Association.

According to the survey, the number one stress is finances, followed by health and employment issues. And when it comes to feeling it the most, no one feels it more than parents.

In addition to statistics, the survey revealed how Americans cope with stress. For example, 82% will simply tune it out by turning on the TV, listening to music or reading. 71 percent talk to family and friends, 62 percent pray or meditate and 55% exercise.

Under its new name, Mental Health America and its 320 affiliates nationwide hope to foster new dialogue about how fundamental mental health is to overall health and to the nation as a whole.

Mental Health America sponsored the survey to demonstrate the importance of improving and protecting one’s mental health as well as knowing when to seek help. For full results of the survey, visit http://www.mentalhealthamerica.net/
