University of Michigan Hospitals Installs Patient Information System

Posted on: Thursday, 16 November 2006, 15:01 CST

The University of Michigan Hospitals and Health Centers has installed an Eclisys Sunrise clinical manager as part of a system-wide initiative focused on implementing technology to help improve care delivery.

The University of Michigan Hospitals and Health Centers (UMHHC) has integrated the Sunrise clinical manager CPOE system along with results, electronic Medication Administration Record (eMAR), and patient lists with its existing laboratory, radiology, and pharmacy systems as part of its clinical information technology infrastructure.

Sunrise clinical manager is an enterprise-wide advanced information system that provides secure access to patients' complete records, streamlines care processes and according to the vendor, improves the quality and cost-efficiency of care. It features a workflow engine, CPOE system, embedded evidence-based content and interdisciplinary clinical documentation capabilities.

"The health system's immediate success with physician adoption for CPOE represents what can be achieved when there is effective collaboration with clinicians throughout the implementation process, from planning to development of order sets to training," said R. Andrew Eckert, Eclipsys president and CEO.
