Take Care Health Systems and Walgreens Open Four New Health Corner Clinics in Chicago Area and Kick Off National Influenza Vaccination Week From Nov. 27 to Dec. 3

Take Care Health Systems, a leading operator of convenient care clinics, in partnership with Walgreen Co. (NYSE, NASDAQ: WAG), opened four new Health Corner Clinics in the Chicago area over the weekend, the company announced today. The new locations are in Libertyville, Montgomery, Mount Prospect and Naperville.
Four Health Corner Clinics opened earlier this month in Elk Grove Village, Morton Grove, Plainfield and St. Charles. All eight clinics are fully stocked with flu shots in anticipation of The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's (CDC) National Influenza Vaccination Week from Nov. 27 to Dec. 3.
According to the CDC, the week-long initiative is designed to raise awareness of the importance of continuing flu vaccination, as well as foster greater use of flu vaccine through the end of the year and beyond. Due to influenza's unpredictability, the CDC's Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices recommends that the influenza vaccine be offered throughout the entire flu season, even after it has appeared or begun appearing in a community.
"A recent nationwide CDC survey, sponsored by the National Foundation for Infectious Diseases, revealed gaps in public perception on flu vaccination and treatment. According to the survey, 43 percent of individuals believe that the flu is not a serious enough disease to warrant vaccination. Yet each year, more than 200,000 people are hospitalized because of influenza complications," said Sandy Ryan, Chief Nurse Practitioner Officer for Take Care Health Systems. "Chicago area residents can protect themselves and their families by making flu vaccinations a priority. Getting a flu shot at any of the eight local Health Corner Clinics is quick, convenient and affordable."
Take Care Nurse Practitioners have already begun administering flu shots to patients 9 years and older in the Chicago area and will continue to do so throughout the entire flu season. The cost of a flu vaccination is $25, but is often covered by insurance.
Flu shots are available at all Chicago-area Health Corner Clinics Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.; Saturday and Sunday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. -- no appointments are necessary. They are located inside the following Walgreens drugstores:
Elk Grove Village - 930 Elk Grove Town Center
Morton Grove - 9301 Waukegan Road
Libertyville - 1770 N. Milwaukee Ave.
Montgomery - 1799 Douglas Road
St. Charles - 3351 W. Main St.
Plainfield - 24801 W. 135th St.
