Health Benchmarks® Inc. (HBI) is pleased to announce it has met the criteria for inclusion in the accreditation process and is included on the Joint Commission's® list of acceptable Performance Measurement Systems. HBI underwent a thorough evaluation conducted by Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations® (JCAHO) in order to demonstrate its ability to handle, manipulate, and transmit healthcare data under the JCAHO ORYX® initiative.
JCAHO's ORYX® initiative aims at integrating health outcomes and other performance measurement data into an accreditation process for hospitals and healthcare organizations. These organizations are required to submit data to JCAHO on a quarterly basis through a certified data vendor. As a verified system, HBI is equipped to provide performance measurement solutions to hospitals in order to facilitate the completion of JCAHO accreditation requirements and to catalyze quality improvement efforts. HBI has been verified on all 5 current core measure sets, including Acute Myocardial Infarction, Heart Failure, Pneumonia, Surgical Care Improvement Project, and Pregnancy and Related Conditions; in addition to these current measure sets, HBI is committed to meeting future criteria established by JCAHO.
"Health Benchmarks® has consistently worked to offer clients the most innovative, yet academically rigorous, analytic solutions to assess performance in healthcare," said Antonio Legorreta, M.D., M.P.H, President and CEO of Health Benchmarks®, Inc. "The addition of HBI as a certified JCAHO Performance Measurement System will allow us to continue providing actionable data to healthcare organizations and support efforts to improve quality and efficiency in the delivery of care.
