SHPS Wins 10 Awards for Excellence in Standard and Custom Health and Benefits Communications

Posted on: Tuesday, 28 November 2006, 12:01 CST

SHPS, a leading provider of healthcare consumerism solutions, received 10 awards for its standard and custom health and benefits communications in the 2006 National Health Information (NHI) Awards program. Organized by the Health Information Resource Center (HIRC), a national clearinghouse for consumer health information programs and materials, the awards program recognizes the nation's best consumer health programs and materials. It is the most comprehensive competition of its kind.

SHPS won a silver award in the consumer decision-making information category for its overall program of standard CareWise® communications, which support the CareWise Nurseline. SHPS won a second silver award for its custom, co-branded communications program for Wachovia, Wachovia Healthy Connections.

SHPS also won two bronze awards for its custom, co-branded communications program for U.S. Bank's CareWise Nurseline program and for PBG's Healthy Living disease management series. Three additional bronze awards were awarded for CareWise Guide: Self-Care From Head To Toe (5th edition); CareWise for Older Adults: Self-Care for Lifelong Health (3rd edition); and the CareWise "GERD" postcard. In addition, SHPS received three merit awards for individual pieces from its standard communication program.

SHPS delivers these materials as part of its standard product delivery. SHPS also creates customized communications for its large employer clients to further engage, educate and drive employee participation in employer-sponsored care management and health benefit programs. By integrating its program messaging into both its healthcare services interactions (e.g., disease management, demand management and personal health profiles) and traditional human resource benefits communications (e.g., spending account administration, eligibility and enrollment), SHPS delivers employees a clear, consistent message across the entire healthcare continuum and adds substantial value to the employer's benefits program.

SHPS delivers its communications messages via the entire range of traditional and electronic media, enabling employers to use them in a variety of branded formats that best meet their communications objectives.

"We are proud to once again be recognized for all the efforts we put in our communications materials," said Todd J.Y. Kubo, director of creative services. "These awards are a reminder of the strategic delivery, high quality and reliable healthcare information that we provide to our clients, their employees and participants. We proudly share these awards with all of our clients, and to all others whose input is so valuable to our success."

SHPS' healthcare consumerism vision takes a proactive approach to managing total employee health. Its communication campaigns support this vision by engaging the employee with personal, meaningful interactions that inspire and empower them to make wiser decisions about managing their own health. These decisions produce better results that lead to lower healthcare costs, benefiting the employee and employer alike.

The HIRC promotes the distribution of accurate, timely consumer health information materials to professionals and managers in the field. The awards reflect an industry standard of quality for consumer health materials, and this "seal of quality" helps health professionals find the best consumer health information resources for their programs, according to a HIRC press release.
