Greenway Medical Technologies, Inc. Unveils Its Patient Portal and Personal Health Record, PrimePatient

December 4, 2006

CARROLLTON, Ga., Dec. 4 /PRNewswire/ — Greenway Medical Technologies, Inc. has announced the release of its newest product, PrimePatient(R), which is designed to improve the efficiency of physician-patient relationships through a variety of services offered via a secure, web-based communication portal.

PrimePatient will seamlessly integrate with PrimeSuite(R), Greenway’s flagship electronic health record (EHR) solution, and is a key strategy within Greenway’s integrated physician infrastructure. These integrated solutions offer physicians and practices the ability to support the clinical, financial and administrative workflow of their offices while maintaining open lines of communication with their patients.

“We are extremely proud of PrimePatient as it is the culmination of countless hours of research, ingenuity and design, brought together to form a solution that will modernize the way physicians and patients interact,” said Tommy Green, Chairman and CEO of Greenway(R). “When combined with PrimeSuite, our industry-leading EHR and practice management solution, PrimePatient will provide physicians with another valuable tool to streamline the many facets of providing quality care to their patients.”

To offer the best possible product and bring it to market in a timely manner, Greenway partnered with Raleigh, N.C.-based Medfusion, Inc., a national leader in physician practice Web sites and secure patient portals. Greenway selected Medfusion because of its extensive expertise in the production of secure Internet-based systems.

“The opportunity to partner with Greenway and lend our knowledge and experience toward the advancement of PrimePatient is a great honor,” said Steve Malik, CEO of Medfusion Inc. “If you look at other industries such as retail and banking, they have already tapped into the effectiveness and profitability of the Web, allowing customers to conduct important business transactions with their computer. Medfusion’s technology offers a safe and secure way for patients to interact with their physicians in this same manner.”

PrimePatient simplifies physician-patient communication by allowing patients to submit appointment requests online and to electronically fill out their demographic, insurance and health history information. Automated appointment reminders can notify patients of upcoming appointments and patients can receive supplemental information from their clinicians regarding their lab results. PrimePatient also allows patients to electronically request prescription refills and communicate problems or issues with current medications. Patients can pay bills, obtain doctor referrals, and manage their Personal Health Records (PHR) simply by logging into a secure site. With an extensive library of valuable health-related material, PrimePatient provides detailed educational handouts and videos that help patients better manage their health.

All communication conducted via PrimePatient passes through a secure channel in compliance with HIPAA standards. PrimePatient provides practices with the opportunity for increased revenue as physicians can charge for prescription refills and electronic consultations.
