Edifecs and Milliman Announce Strategic Alliance for Streamlining Data Acquisition Process for Healthcare Analytics

Posted on: Tuesday, 5 December 2006, 12:01 CST

BELLEVUE, Wash., Dec. 5 /PRNewswire/ -- Edifecs, Inc., a leading provider of B2B solutions for transaction-based interoperability and Milliman, Inc., one of the premier global consulting and actuarial firms, today announced a strategic alliance that streamlines the data acquisition process for payers, providers and other healthcare organizations. Using Edifecs(TM) Healthcare Transaction Repository(TM), Milliman has leveraged standard healthcare transactions, such as HIPAA 837 Claim and 835 Electronic Remittance Advice, to rapidly create rich analytic capabilities healthcare organizations need to manage their business.

Edifecs Healthcare Transaction Repository (HTR) is part of the Edifecs Healthcare Suite(TM), which provides mission-critical solutions for reducing friction in the transaction lifecycle for healthcare and healthcare-affiliated organizations. Edifecs HTR consumes standard HIPAA and other healthcare transactions, and normalizes the full content of those transactions into a business-normalized repository, creating opportunities for transaction lifecycle management and reporting that were heretofore unavailable for payers, providers and other healthcare-affiliated organizations.

"Milliman is the recognized leader in the healthcare analytics field, and we are excited to be working with them," said Sunny Singh, CEO of Edifecs. "Milliman's innovative use of our HTR to streamline the data acquisition process will save time and money for Milliman customers, and get them access to information from the edge of the enterprise."

"Data acquisition can be a time-consuming process for many healthcare payers and providers, creating a barrier to real-time information about their business," said Will Fox, Principal and Consulting Actuary at Milliman. "Using the content of the standard transactions and Edifecs HTR, we are able to provide more rapid deployment of our analytic solutions to our clients, leveraging their existing capabilities. Edifecs' investment in this technology has opened up some very interesting possibilities."
