Bay Area Pharmacy Benefits Administrator Says Renewal of Ryan White AIDS Care Act Will Sustain Patients' Lives and Help in Search for Cure

Posted on: Thursday, 7 December 2006, 21:00 CST

SAN FRANCISCO, Dec. 7 /PRNewswire/ -- Earlier today, Congress renewed the Ryan White AIDS Care Act for three years. Sylester Flowers, founder of a major Bay Area pharmacy benefits administrator, has comments:

"We are very pleased with Congress' action; a long term commitment is still needed to contain this devastating disease until there is a cure to eradicate it.

"Not only will the continued funding of this program provide life- sustaining medication to people most in need, it will help in the search for an eventual cure. When patients infected with HIV do not receive the medication they need due to lack of funding, they tend to ration their dosages which can lead to virus mutation and reduction in existing antiretroviral effectiveness."

About Sylester Flowers:

Sylester Flowers is the Chairman and CEO of the Ramsell Holding Corporation, which administers San Francisco's and the states of California and Washington's AIDS Drug Assistance Programs (ADAP) through it's subsidiary, Public Health Service Bureau. He is also founder of the Flowers Heritage Foundation, which provides medication funding for patients waitlisted for ADAP programs throughout the nation.
