PrimeGen Biotech Presents Germ Cell Research at Abcam Stem Cell Conference

Posted on: Thursday, 14 December 2006, 09:00 CST

PrimeGen Biotech (http://www.primegenbiotech.com) today announced that it will present its germ cell research at Abcam's Stem Cells 2006 conference, held at the Hilton Cancun, Dec. 14-17.

Francisco J. Silva, vice president of research and development, will participate in Session 3, "Differentiation Potential of Adult Stem Cells," on Saturday, Dec. 16. He will discuss platforms on the therapeutic development of the germ line developed by the company's subsidiaries -- PrimeCell™ Therapeutics LLC and NewStem Biosciences LLC. In addition, several of the company's researchers will give four poster presentations.

The conference keynote speaker is Rudolf Jaenisch, a founding member of the Whitehead Institute for Biomedical Research and a professor of biology at Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

"Our goal is to develop the most potent regenerative cells for use in a variety of therapeutic applications -- and our research reveals that there's a lot of potential in the differentiation of germ line stem cells," said Silva. "It's an honor to be invited to present our findings here, alongside so many other exciting developments that move stem cell research from the lab toward clinical applications."

Silva is a principal contributor to PrimeGen Biotech's intellectual property portfolio and oversees the development of all research platforms. He is responsible for the company's current scientific progress, and designs and implements the company's premier research developments.
