ORLive Presents Endovascular Treatment for Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm (AAA)

Posted on: Thursday, 14 December 2006, 15:01 CST

On December 14, 2006 at 6 p.m. Central Time, Trinity Mother Frances Health System's Center For Advanced Surgery And Technology (CASAT) will host a live Webcast to showcase a minimally invasive treatment for Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm.

The endovascular procedure will performed by Todd Bengtson, MD and moderated by Kent Webb, MD and Todd Smith, MD -- all surgeons with Trinity Mother Frances Vascular Institute -- and will be broadcast free of charge around the world via OR-Live.com.

Patients who undergo the endovascular treatment for the repair of AAA typically have fewer side effects and less down time than with a conventional open surgery.

Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm is a life threatening situation which if left untreated can lead to instances of blot clot formations in the aneurysm, thromboembolism leading to organ infarctions, brain hemorrhage / stroke or death.
