Misys Healthcare Systems to Deliver Enterprise-Wide Electronic Health Records (EHR) for Daughters of Charity Health System
Posted on: Friday, 15 December 2006, 03:05 CST
Misys Healthcare Systems, a market leader in healthcare IT, today announced that it will deliver a comprehensive EHR system for Daughters of Charity Health System (DCHS), a California regional healthcare system. The significant multi-million dollar partnership will provide a core clinical system for DCHS operations to assist the organization in its mission to provide safe patient care and quality outcomes. Ultimately, DCHS will have an integrated healthcare IT platform serving all clinicians.
DCHS, a regional healthcare system of six hospitals and care centers spanning the California coast from the Bay Area to Los Angeles, performed a vendor-evaluation process to select the best patient record solution in specialties across the system. "Over the course of the selection process, Misys proved to be the best partner to further our mission of providing high quality care to all, especially to the poor," said Richard Hutsell, vice president and CIO of Daughters of Charity Health System. "Through the use of Misys' products, we look forward to delivering an electronic health record solution that will place DCHS facilities among the elite in information management in healthcare."
DCHS selected Misys solutions because of Misys' ability to offer a comprehensive patient record across all hospital and outpatient care environments in the healthcare enterprise. This integrated approach to patient information management will allow clinicians to provide faster, more efficient care resulting in diagnoses and treatments that encompass the full breadth of a patient's medical history on record.
With Misys solutions, DCHS will improve communications and increase productivity, patient care and operational efficiency through these integrated platforms:
Misys CPR®: an enterprise-wide Web-based solution that delivers enterprise clinical information management via integrated computerized physician order entry (CPOE).
Misys Connect®: a Web-based, interoperable clinical data viewer and data sharing infrastructure that connects clinical systems, regardless of vendor, to create a patient's longitudinal health record across care settings and the community of care providers.
Misys EMR®: an electronic medical records (EMR) solution that enables physicians to capture and stores patient information through interfaces that allow for integration with Radiology Information Systems (RIS), Picture Archiving and Communication Systems (PACS), medical devices, transcription systems and other document repositories.
Misys Data Warehouse®: a comprehensive reporting tool that provides clinicians with enterprise-wide data analysis of patient information stored in an Oracle-supported database.
"As hospitals and healthcare organizations focus on adopting technology for more efficiency and better patient care, Misys is at the forefront of this accelerating trend. The vision of a truly interconnected healthcare system becomes reality with Misys solutions and we are extremely excited to partner with Daughters of Charity Health System and deliver this vision effectively for the communities they serve," said Tom Skelton, CEO of Misys Healthcare Systems.
DCHS will deploy Misys CPR in its six hospitals to provide clinicians with real-time electronic patient information. The electronic medical records solution easily integrates with a broad range of systems and supports clinical information sharing. Simultaneously, nurses and pharmacists will have use of Misys Pharmacy IMM® and the Misys Bar-Code Medication Administration® components of Misys CPR to provide a fully integrated prescription system, including immediate point-of-care bar-code-based medication scanning.
Importantly, DCHS will deploy Misys EMR and Practice Management software solutions in ambulatory and physician office settings throughout the system. In addition, DCHS will utilize Misys Data Warehouse, a tool that provides clinicians with enterprise-wide data analysis of information, and Misys Connect, which delivers interoperable exchange of patient health information between hospitals and community physicians. When fully installed, the suite of products will equip DCHS with a full information management solution, to put them at the forefront of innovative health management and allow their caregivers to focus on what they do best, providing safe, high quality care.
About the Daughters of Charity Health System
The Daughters of Charity Health System (DCHS) is a regional healthcare system of six hospitals and medical centers spanning the California coast from the Bay Area to Los Angeles. The healthcare ministry exists to support the mission of their sponsors, the Daughters of Charity of St. Vincent de Paul, by providing holistic, spiritually centered care to the sick and the poor.
DCHS was formed on January 1, 2002, but it is an organization with a long and rich heritage. The Daughters of Charity were founded in Paris, France, in 1633 by St. Vincent de Paul and St. Louise de Marillac. Their mission of caring for the sick and the poor quickly spread around the world, and began in the United States in 1809, with the work of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton. In 1856, the Daughters started their health ministry in California, establishing the state's first hospital, The Los Angeles Infirmary - today's St. Vincent Medical Center.
Hospitals and medical centers within the Daughters of Charity Health System include: Seton Medical Center, Daly City; Seton Medical Center Coastside, Moss Beach; O'Connor Hospital, San Jose; Saint Louise Regional Hospital, Gilroy; St. Vincent Medical Center, Lynwood; St. Vincent Medical Center, Los Angeles.
