MultiPlan Once Again Makes a Special Holiday Gift for Pediatric Patients Across the Country
Posted on: Tuesday, 19 December 2006, 09:01 CST
MultiPlan, Inc., the nation's oldest and largest network of independently contracted medical providers, today announced the winners of its 11th Annual Holiday Card Program.
This year, the company received over 85 entries from pediatric patients throughout the country. The five drawings most often selected among more than 4,300 votes received were the creations of pediatric patients at Edinburg Children's Hospital (Texas), Staten Island University Hospital (New York), MetroHealth Medical Center (Ohio), and Morristown Hamblen Healthcare System (Tennessee).
One of MultiPlan's most popular initiatives, the Holiday Card Program, collects holiday drawings from pediatric patients at MultiPlan member hospitals. The artwork is then displayed on MultiPlan's website where a vote is held for the five most popular illustrations. These winning drawings have been made into holiday greeting cards, courtesy of MultiPlan, and provided to all participating hospitals for use in fundraising at holiday events and to sell in their gift shops. The winning drawings are also on display at http://www.multiplan.com/providers/holiday/.
"At Morristown-Hamblen Healthcare System, nothing gives us more joy than the pediatric unit and the wonderful hearts of children," said Dedra Anderson, VP, and Chief Nursing Officer. "We are so pleased to have participated in the Holiday Card Program and cannot express enough the excitement we share with our winning artist and her parents."
"We'd like to thank all of this year's pediatric participants and entering hospitals," said Kate Mathison, Senior Vice President, Network Development for MultiPlan. "Studies suggest that environment plays an important role in pediatric recovery and we're extremely proud to offer a program that not only brightens the day for hospitalized children, but may also have a direct impact on their health."
MultiPlan also offers the Toy Car Program, providing member hospitals with battery-operated cars for children to drive throughout the facility, to help ease the anxiety associated with hospitals. MultiPlan has awarded over 135 cars to member hospitals across the country since the programs inception in 1998.
