‘Secret Garden’ Opens Series in Bartlesville

Jan. 4–A local production of the Tony Award-winning musical “The Secret Garden” will mark the start of the Bartlesville Community Center 25th anniversary.
The musical, with music by Lucy Simon and book and lyrics by Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright Marsha Norman, will be presented 7:30 p.m. Saturday and 2 p.m. Sunday at the center, Adams Boulevard and Cherokee Avenue in Bartlesville.

The show is produced by Tracye Caughell and is directed by Kay Martinovich. Susan Mueller will conduct the show’s orchestra.
Based on the beloved children’s classic by Francis Hodgson Burnett, “The Secret Garden” is the story of a young girl sent to live with an uncle she does not know after her parents die in India. Once at her uncle’s home, she discovers a hidden place that hold the promise of happiness for her and all the troubled souls around her.
The cast features high school- and college-aged actors from the Bartlesville area, and stars Mark Sanders, who has performed with Theodore Bikel in the national tour of “Fiddler on the Roof.”
