MU Women Lose at Rice: ; Roundup
Marshall University women’s basketball team lost to Rice 83-79 Thursday at Autry Court in Houston.
Four Herd players reached double digits, led by Alix Barnette’s 19 points. Modupe Ishola added 18 points and nine rebounds, while Megan Samis scored 13 and Megan Withrow chipped in 11 as the Herd fell to 10-7 overall and 3-2 in Conference USA play.
Valeriy Berezhynska led Rice with 22 points.

PFISTER ON TV: A rebroadcast of Phil Pfister’s victorious effort in the 2006 World’s Strongest Man competition held in China last September will be coming up three times this month.
The hour-long show can be seen on either ESPN or ESPN2 on Jan. 13 from 7-8 p.m., on Jan. 19 from 2-3 p.m. and on Jan. 20 from 4-5 p.m. Pfister is a Charleston firefighter.

BASKETBALL CLINIC: Limited spaces remain for Marshall University’s 10th annual Sweetheart Clinic for girls ages 12 and under.
The free clinic, in which participants will rotate through eight stations receiving instruction from Marshall coaches and student- athletes, will take place Jan. 28.
