ARTIST Jane Wolfenden will be delivering an early taste of spring through an adult education course on botanical painting.

People wishing to learn how to paint flowers and plants, or the elements of botanical illustration, can join a course offered by the Workers’ Educational Association. Tutor Jane said: “We use pencil and watercolour paints, but people can come with nothing and get advice on what to buy.

“It is a relaxed and friendly course, and all are welcome whether or not they have painted before.”

The course starts on January 16 at the Unitarian Church, Ellison Place, Newcastle, from 10.30am-12.30pm and runs for 10 weekly sessions. Details on (0191) 461-8100.

Creative arts graduate Jane also has a post-graduate qualification in arts therapy and worked with patients at St George’s Hospital in Morpeth for five years and also ran a stall on Armstrong Bridge in Jesmond, Newcastle. “I have always used plants and flowers in my artwork over the years,” said Jane, the mother of twins Jamie and Max, who now lives in Heaton in Newcastle but grew up in Whitley Bay.
