Decisions aren’t up to management alone in the nursing services department at PinnacleHealth System. The department has adopted shared decision-making that gives staff nurses greater control and influence in their work environment. The model promotes a sense of ownership, accountability and responsibility in the workplace. It also boosts employee satisfaction and improves patient care. Based in Harrisburg, PinnacleHealth resulted from the merger of three health systems and includes hospitals, family practice centers and home health care agencies, among other services.
