Zix Corporation (ZixCorp®), (Nasdaq: ZIXI), the leader in hosted services for email encryption and e-prescribing, issued a statement supporting today's announcement by The National E-Prescribing Patient Safety Initiative (NEPSI) promoting the widespread adoption of electronic prescribing.
As a leader in the e-prescribing industry, ZixCorp has been providing this life-saving technology to doctors for over three years. ZixCorp is currently working with seven large health insurers who are sponsoring its PocketScript e-prescribing solution to provide the technology and support services free to doctors. The high level of support that the company provides to both payors and doctors for recruiting, installation and training has been a key driver in its successful track record of adoption and utilization of e-prescribing.
"We have seen proven results first-hand on how e-prescribing has positively impacted patient safety and the efficient delivery of care in the United States," said Rick Spurr, chief executive officer for ZixCorp. "We believe this announcement helps to raise awareness about the value of e-prescribing and its ability to dramatically improve patient safety. All who are involved with e-prescribing realize the true benefits for healthcare providers and certainly for patients."
ZixCorp's PocketScript® e-prescribing service enables physicians to order prescriptions through a secure wireless mobile PDA or secure Web site and deliver them electronically to retail pharmacies via SureScripts or mail order pharmacies via RxHub. PocketScript provides clinical decision support at the point-of-care with real-time access to a drug reference guide as well as patient-level eligibility, formulary, and co-pay information to aid the prescriber in selecting the most cost-effective prescription based on the patient's benefits. The application also provides comprehensive drug-to-drug and drug-to-allergy interaction alerts based on patient-specific dispensed drug history. PocketScript delivers end-to-end connectivity within the healthcare system to reduce unnecessary costs, improve patient safety and convenience, and enhance practice efficiency.
