The Isabel system enables a physician to enter a patient's signs and symptoms and instantly receive back a list of likely diagnoses to consider. Physicians can click on each diagnosis to access knowledge on investigations, treatment, journal articles and images. Isabel is available as a subscription via the Internet or can be purchased as an integrated part of electronic medical records systems. For more information, visit http://www.isabelhealthcare.com/.
The Carle Foundation Hospital is the primary teaching hospital for the University of Illinois College of Medicine at Urbana-Champaign. Children's Hospital of Wisconsin, based in Milwaukee, was recently ranked as one of the top children's hospitals in the country by Child magazine.
Isabel is now in use at ten major regional medical centers, including Loma Linda Medical Center, University of Virginia Medical School, Seattle Children's Hospital and Washington University School of Medicine. Overall, Isabel is now used by more than 2,000 physicians in four countries.
Isabel Healthcare, based in Reston, VA, was founded in 2000 by Jason Maude and Dr. Joseph Britto, a physician. The much acclaimed system, which has undergone seven years of rigorous development and clinical trials, is named after Maude's young daughter, who almost died after a potentially fatal illness was not recognized by family and ER physicians.
