UConn Student In Critical Condition

Jan. 22–STORRS — A UConn sophomore injured in a hit-and-run accident on North Eagleville Road early Saturday remained in critical condition Sunday at Hartford Hospital.

Carlee A. Wines, 19, of Manalapan, N.J., was struck by an eastbound vehicle while crossing North Eagleville Road around 2 a.m. Saturday. Police and emergency medical personnel arrived on the scene quickly, and she was transported by ambulance to Rockville Hospital and later taken by Life Star helicopter to Hartford Hospital.

A hospital spokeswoman said Wines was in critical condition Sunday. UConn and state police are investigating the accident.

The vehicle, which continued east toward Route 195, was described as a white or light-color Ford SUV or pickup truck. The vehicle is believed to have front-end damage.
