Leverage Life Provides Concierge Services at St. Helena Hospital in St. Helena, California

PLEASANTON, Calif., Jan. 23 /PRNewswire/ -- In a 2005 survey on the Top Issues Confronting Hospitals, 85% of hospitals reported a shortage of registered nurses. By reducing nursing staff turnover from 14% to 9%, a study conducted by HealthLeaders in April 2006 showed that more than $2 million in replacement costs could be saved.
St. Helena Hospital has implemented Concierge services at their St. Helena and Vallejo campuses to address these concerns and reduce nursing staff turnover. When using the service, employees can request assistance with: locating tickets; making travel arrangements; making restaurant reservations; finding home and car repair resources; researching child, elder, and pet care assistance; and arranging various other discounted and on-site services (e.g., theme park ticket, retail, florist and gift discounts, and car washing, dry cleaning, and errand running).
"The concierge program has become an integral part of our culture of a complete employee experience," said Mark Fowler, St. Helena's Executive Director. "The program fits nicely with our employee demographics and geographic location so that we can provide the 'best of the best' for our clientele. The decision to implement it was a no-brainer."
Large health care organizations commonly offer Concierge services as a benefit because they appeal to a broad range of employees and are a cost- effective way to attract and retain employees. However, this offering in a smaller health care organization, such as St. Helena Hospital, is a progressive concept.
"Innovative benefits, like Leverage Life's Concierge and Work/Life services, are critical to employers who want to reduce employee stress and improve productivity," responded Cathy Leibow, Vice President of Leverage Life. "St. Helena has been very supportive and continues to communicate the Concierge programs that are available to their employees. As a result, employee awareness is high and feedback is extraordinary."
