Visionary in its concept, the Clinique Skin Wellness Center at Weill Cornell is both a physical space for patient services and education as well as a "center without walls" that fosters joint research, education and outreach programs.
Established through an agreement between Clinique and Weill Cornell Medical College announced in 2005, the Center will be directed by Dr. Richard D. Granstein, Chairman of the Department of Dermatology at Weill Cornell. It has been created to advance the understanding of skin from clinical, scientific and cosmetic points of view.
"This Center is both a physical space for patient services and education as well as a center without walls that fosters joint research and outreach programs," explains Dr. Granstein. "Both Clinique and Weill Cornell are focused on addressing skin care from all aspects -- from a greater understanding of bio-physical needs to the treatment of disease and public health aspects of dermatology and good skin health practices to protect and promote skin wellness."
Housed in Weill Cornell's new ambulatory care and medical education building, the Clinique Skin Wellness Center is within the Department of Dermatology. The physical center comprises three full-service examination rooms and a workstation. Weill Cornell dermatologists, with a range of specialties, will see patients in the exam rooms. Patients with disfiguring skin lesions, scars or post-treatment redness can also make an appointment to see a specially trained Clinique representative for tips on gentle cleansing and effective cover-up and camouflage techniques for scars and post-treatment redness. Clinique will also provide consumer education materials on general skin health concerns as well as sponsor an information kiosk. The Center is open to anyone seeking dermatological care and focuses on skin wellness, not specific product endorsements.
"Skin consultations and education are at the core of how Clinique approaches each and every person who comes to our counter," says Lynne Greene, Global President of Clinique. "At our very roots we believe in the power of dermatological advice and the Clinique Skin Wellness Center is the next step in providing the best that skin science has to offer."
Located at 70th Street and York Avenue in Manhattan's Upper East Side, the Clinique Skin Wellness Center at Weill Cornell is in the heart of a complex of world renowned hospitals and medical education facilities. Each year, more than 20,000 patients from New York City and around the world come to Weill Cornell's Department of Dermatology to be treated by its esteemed team of physicians. Top medical students and researchers from across the country also come to Weill Cornell to learn from, and collaborate with, the institution's experts.
