By Alva James-Johnson, South Florida Sun-Sentinel
Jan. 29–A boy about 10 years of age and a man were killed Sunday in a four-car crash in Tamarac that sent six other people to hospitals with injuries.
The crash occurred shortly after 6 p.m. on West Commercial Boulevard at the Florida’s Turnpike overpass, according to the Broward Sheriff’s Office.
The man and the boy were traveling east on Commercial Boulevard in a Dodge Stratus when the vehicle crossed the concrete median strip into westbound traffic, the release said.
The Stratus struck a westbound pickup truck, then hit another vehicle head-on, before it was hit by a fourth vehicle.
The man and the boy were killed on impact. Two other people were taken to Florida Medical Center in Lauderdale Lakes and four, including a baby about 18 months old, went to Broward General Medical Center in Fort Lauderdale.
The baby did not appear to be hurt, but was taken to the hospital for examination as a precaution, according to the release. The conditions of the adults were not available late Sunday.
The Broward Sheriff’s Office withheld the names of the victims, pending notification of their families.
