AURORA, Colo., Jan. 29 /PRNewswire/ — The PiGalileo Computer Assisted Orthopedic Surgery system uses a mechanized “robot” to assist surgeons in positioning instruments for the most accurate surgical placement of total knee replacements.

Craig Loucks, MD, orthopedic surgeon is the first physician in the Denver metro area to use the mechanized robot from PiGalileo for total knee replacements.

Medical literature has shown that a common cause of joint implant failure is implant misalignment. Even as small as a three-degree misalignment is strongly correlated to excessive wear on the joint and implant failure over time.

The PiGalileo system positions the knee implants with much more accuracy than is possible using standard orthopedic surgical techniques, reducing the potential for misalignment and future complications.
