The Premier Inc. healthcare alliance will host a national teleconference on Wednesday, January 31, from 2-3 p.m. ET, featuring top performers from the second year of the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS)/Premier Hospital Quality Incentive Demonstration (HQID) pay-for-performance project.

Rick Mace, VP for Clinical Services at Kettering Medical Center in Dayton, Ohio, and William Hathaway, MD, medical director of Heart Services at Mission Hospitals, Inc., in Asheville, NC, will join Premier Senior VP and General Manager Stephanie Alexander on the call, titled “Lessons from Top Performers in Year II of the Premier/CMS HQID P4P Project.”

According to second-year results released last week, more than 260 hospitals participating in the HQID project have raised overall quality by 11.8 percent in two years, based on their delivery of 30 nationally standardized and widely accepted care measures to patients in five clinical areas. Improvements in quality of care saved 1,284 acute myocardial infarction (heart attack) patients, and patients received approximately 150,000 additional recommended evidence-based clinical quality measures, such as smoking cessation, discharge instructions and pneumococcal vaccination.

Premier’s Advisor Live is a free monthly teleconference series providing information and discussion on important quality improvement and supply chain topics.
