SUPER BOWL ON TV

Here’s a rundown of Super Bowl-related programming Sunday (segments subject to change):

ESPN

10 a.m.: Overview from Miami.

11 a.m.: A feature on the Super Bowl’s first two African-American head coaches, Lovie Smith and Tony Dungy.

11:20 a.m.: Offbeat piece by Kenny Mayne on Kurt Warner.

11:30 a.m.: The top sounds from the AFC title game.

11:40 a.m.: Piece on Brian Urlacher keeping the tradition of outstanding Chicago linebackers.

11:55 a.m.: Feature on Indianapolis receiver Reggie Wayne dealing with his brother being killed in a car accident this season.

12:10 p.m.: Feature on Chicago quarterback Rex Grossman.

12:35 p.m.: Feature on Indianapolis quarterback Peyton Manning and his football-playing family.

CBS

11 a.m.: NFL Films show concentrates on spectacular plays and clashes on the line of scrimmage this season, with a lot of slow-motion cinematography.

Noon: CBS analyst and former Giants quarterback Phil Simms, the MVP of Super Bowl XXI and his play-by-play announcer Jim Nantz list the 12 players and one coach who made a difference in their team’s winning or losing a championship, redefined their position, turned around a franchise, raised a city’s hopes, or made a difference in their community. Also, an interview with Super Bowl XXII MVP Doug Williams.

1 p.m.: James Brown, Dan Marino, Boomer Esiason and Shannon Sharpe anchor the pregame show live from Dolphin Stadium. Features are scheduled on Pittsburgh receiver Hines Ward and former San Francisco 49ers head coach Bill Walsh. Also scheduled are live reports from Randy Cross with American soldiers in Iraq. Reporters Lesley Visser, Sam Ryan, along with Steve Tasker and Solomon Wilcots, as well as contributor Dick Enberg, will cover pregame activities.

5 p.m.: Player introductions, national anthem preformed by Billy Joel.

5:25 p.m. Game kicks off.

7 p.m. (approx.) Halftime show, headlined by performance from Prince.
