Actavis Launches Generic Zoloft

Actavis said Wednesday the U.S. Food and Drug Administration has approved its generic version of Pfizer’s Zoloft.
Actavis said it will begin distributing the product immediately.
Sertraline hydrochloride, the generic name of the drug, is approved for treating major depressive disorder, obsessive-compulsive disorder and panic disorder.
The Iceland-based generic-drug company said the new product is available in 25-mg, 50-mg and 100-mg strengths.
Sales of Zoloft totaled $3.1 billion for the 12 months ending June 2006, Actavis said.
