Colorado Announces Launch of 360 Degree Health for Group Members

Posted on: Wednesday, 7 February 2007, 15:01 CST

DENVER, Feb. 7 /PRNewswire/ -- Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield in Colorado today announced the launch of 360 Degree Health for group business. This program will provide health information and counsel collected from physicians, nurses, and other health care professionals to Anthem's members in Colorado through a single point of contact.

360 Degree Health is the industry's first program to integrate all care management programs and tools into a centralized, consumer-friendly resource that assists members in navigating the health care system, using their health benefits and providing information to help them to access comprehensive and appropriate care.

A key component of 360 Degree Health is MyHealth Record - a personal health record (PHR), the substance of which is owned and managed by Anthem members. Anthem is the first insurer to make PHRs available to its members. Currently, members can input information into their PHR. In the future, member PHRs will be automatically populated with claims data received by Anthem. They can be accessed from any computer with an internet connection, empowering members to track and share their health histories with their doctors to help achieve the highest quality of care.

"360 Degree Health and its components demonstrate how Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield is poised to transform the way health benefits are delivered to and used by consumers," said John Martie, president and general manager, Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield in Colorado.

Anthem members will be able to access the benefits of 360 Degree Health by phone, e-mail, and a personalized Web site. In addition to the wealth of health care information available through the 360 Degree Health platform, the program helps members access a wide range of services including online wellness and lifestyle programs, discounts on health-related products and alternative medicine therapies, and 24-hour access to health care professionals who can provide health information.

The 360 Degree Health platform enhances the wellness and prevention tools and services already available through Anthem's health plans. Under 360 Degree Health, members who traditionally do not take full advantage of their health benefits can now go to a single place to find information on Anthem's unique condition management program, discounts on gym memberships, and health workshops and seminars available exclusively to Anthem members.

For example, a member may use 360 Degree Health's diabetes tools to find personalized information on how to best self manage their condition, understand how their medications work, and learn how to incorporate proper nutrition, diet and exercise into their lifestyle. They can also find the names of physicians that specialize in the treatment of diabetes. 360 Degree Health also helps members stay continually engaged through the use of interactive online tools, targeted educational mailings, and access to clinical teams that may include a registered nurse, exercise physiologist and dietician.

"360 Degree Health will focus resources on the 20 percent of our members who are most at risk and will make health and wellness programs more accessible for the remaining 80 percent," said Martie. "Our members will have access to a fully integrated health improvement program that is backed by the knowledge and resources of Anthem's unparalleled network of health care professionals."

More information on this innovative program will be made available to Anthem group members throughout 2007.
