Federal Health Minister Concedes More Work to Be Done on Health Wait Times
TORONTO (CP) – Health Minister Tony Clement says progress has been made on wait times but acknowledges more work needs to be done.
Clement says the federal government is committed to its wait-times guarantee and will continue to work with the provinces on the file. Saskatchewan Health Minister Len Taylor says a lot of action has taken place on wait times but adds it’s a complex system and the country’s health ministers must keep talking.
Clement is meeting in Toronto today with his provincial counterparts to discuss progress on wait times.
The wait-times guarantee is supposed to ensure patients can go to another jurisdiction at the government’s expense if timely care is not available at home.
It was among the Conservatives’ top five priorities a year ago and the only one they haven’t fulfilled.
