Briefs: Dillon International to Host Adoption Workshop

Dillon International Inc. will hold an international adoption workshop from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Feb. 17 at The Church at BattleCreek, 3025 N. Aspen Ave.
Staff members of the licensed, nonprofit adoption agency will present information and answer questions on adopting children from China, India, Haiti and Vietnam. Information will also be available on the agency’s Waiting Child Program in China, India, Korea and Vietnam.
Participants will have an opportunity to discuss such topics as how to prepare for the home study, initial adjustments, blending a family with adopted and birth children, and telling the adoption story.
The fee is $100 per couple or $90 for a single adult. Lunch and workshop materials are included.
Established in 1972, Dillon International has placed more than 5,500 children with families throughout the United States.

Applications available for mini-grants
The Higher Education Cultural Roundtable is taking applications for mini-grants which will be awarded for arts and humanities activities at Tulsa area schools for kindergarten through 12th grade.
Grant funds may be applied to any arts- or humanities-related expenses including art supplies, lecturer or artist fees and transportation to arts events.
Grants, ranging from $50 to $250, are for the 2007 calendar year.

The HECR is a consortium of regional colleges and universities.

Playhouse auditions set for Sunday
The Broken Arrow Community Playhouse will hold auditions for its production of “A Delicate Balance,” 5 p.m. Sunday at the theater in The Main Place, 1800 S. Main St.
The cast includes two males and four females.
Familiarity with the script prior to auditioning is strongly recommended.
“A Delicate Balance” is a humorous look at love, compassion and the bonds of friendship and family. Agnes and Tobias, a middle-aged couple, are engaged in a battle of wills with Agnes’ sister, a self- professed drunk, and their daughter Julia, who has returned home after a fourth failed marriage.
Add to that the sudden arrival of their best friends, Edna and Harry, a couple seeking refuge in an already chaotic home.
The first of six performances is set for April 13.

Booth space available for annual bazaar
Booth space is available for the 13th annual New Life Bazaar, held 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. March 17 at Arrow Heights Baptist Church, 3201 S. Elm Place.
The 7-foot-by-10-foot booths are available for $45 or $47 with electricity included. Tables will be provided for $8. Deadline for applications is March 12.
Handcrafted items will be featured, along with a gift basket silent auction and bake sale.
The festival is the major fundraiser for the Arrow Heights Organ Transplant Fund, which is used to help organ and bone marrow transplant recipients with transplant-related expenses not covered by insurance or government programs.
Those still on a transplant waiting list may also apply.
Applications must show a need for assistance and be approved by the AHOTF committee.
Membership in the church is not required.
