Certified Medical Office Assistant Training Now Offered By Washington Online Institute

Posted on: Tuesday, 13 February 2007, 09:04 CST

NANUET, N.Y., Feb. 13 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The Washington Online Learning Institute (http://www.woli.com/), the nation's longest established Internet- based school for paralegals, is now offering training for a career as a certified Medical Office Assistant. WOLI is the first exclusively online educational institution to receive accreditation from the Middle States Association (MSA) of Colleges and Schools Commission on Secondary Schools, the same U.S. Department of Education-sanctioned organization that accredits Princeton, NYU, Columbia, Georgetown and many other colleges.

WOLI's Medical Office Assistant training provides students with a knowledge and understanding of health insurance billing, medical coding and medical terminology, preparing them for careers at hospitals, ambulatory care centers and private doctor's offices. Medical Office Assistants greet patients, update medical records, write correspondence, schedule appointments and arrange for hospital admissions and laboratory services. According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, the demand for Medical Office Assistants is expected to grow 59 percent through the year 2012.

"Most hospitals and doctor's offices cannot function efficiently without the essential contributions of the Medical Office Assistant," said Michael A. Koplen, co-founder and director of Washington Online. "WOLI's certified medical assistant program will provide our students the necessary training to take advantage of this rewarding and well-paying profession."
