ALEXANDRIA, Va., Feb. 15 /PRNewswire/ -- Community MTM Services, Inc. (CMTM), a leading developer of clinical solutions that facilitate pharmacist-based medication management and patient care services, today announced the appointment of Donald W. Hackett as its Chief Executive Officer, and Gary "Chuck" Smith as its Chief Financial Officer. CMTM also announced that Lonny Wilson, D.Ph., chief executive officer of Pharmacy Providers of Oklahoma (PPOK), has joined its board of directors.

"We are thrilled to have Don lead CMTM during its next phase of growth and innovation," said Bruce Roberts, RPh, executive vice president and CEO of the National Community Pharmacists Association (NCPA) and chairman of CMTM's board of directors. "Don brings a long track record and reputation as a visionary in launching innovative technologies that empower both health care providers and consumers. This announcement signals our expansion in the emerging field of pharmacy-based, patient care services."

Hackett began his career with IBM and since 1989 has held executive positions with various eHealth companies such as Revolution Health, myDNA.com, drkoop.com, and Physician Computer Network. He is credited with successfully deploying the first FDA-approved interactive advertising network, the first ambulatory e-prescribing application, and the first Internet-based network connecting hospitals, payors, and clinical laboratories.

"Community pharmacists must be integrated into physician and consumer eHealth initiatives if we are going to reduce administrative costs and improve the quality of care delivered," said Hackett. "Last year CMTM's innovative technologies enabled thousands of pharmacists to deliver enhanced face-to-face patient care services, such as medication therapy management. We are significantly expanding FY'07 R&D investments to produce a world-class "eHealth 3.0" pharmacy clinical solution that integrates with portals, EMRs and PHRs. Employers, payors, clinical research organizations, and pharmaceutical manufacturers are now able to leverage CMTM's high-trust pharmacy network of 39,000 members and technology solutions to accomplish their business objectives and enhance patient care services."

Smith joined CMTM earlier this month after serving three years as the senior vice president and chief financial officer for NCPA. He began his career in the Washington, DC office of Arthur Andersen, LLP, where he served in various executive roles, most notably as chief financial officer for its international business consulting group.

CMTM's board of directors brings vast industry experience to the company. Wilson serves on various pharmacy boards including the NCPA Executive Committee, the Federated Pharmacy Network and Independent Pharmacy Cooperative. He is past president of the Oklahoma Pharmacists Association.

Wilson joins other CMTM board members Hackett, Roberts, Anthony Civello, and Holly Henry, R.Ph. Roberts was a founder and owner of three pharmacies and a home health care company in Loudon County, VA, and is the recipient of numerous pharmacy awards, including the 2000 Community Practitioner of the Year award from the American Pharmacists Association. Civello, president and chief executive officer for Kerr Drug and Chain Drug Review's 2006 Retailer of the Year, serves as the chairman of the board of directors for the National Association of Chain Drug Stores (NACDS). Henry, co-owner of Rxtra Care, Inc., also chairs the Executive Committee of NCPA, represents NCPA on the steering committee of the Pharmacists Services Technical Advisory Coalition (PSTAC), and is a past president of the Washington State Pharmacists Association.
