LONDON, February 21 /PRNewswire/ -- InferMed Ltd, a provider of advanced software solutions for clinical research and practice, has been named the Entrepreneurial Company of the Year at the 2007 Frost and Sullivan awards.
Frost and Sullivan selected InferMed to receive the prestigious award for the Company's demonstration of superior entrepreneurial ability, excellence in decision support, and the significant market potential of its innovative and unique products; MACRO and Arezzo.
InferMed's first product, MACRO, is an Electronic Data Capture (EDC) solution for clinical research, which is currently used in over 36 countries worldwide to collect data from patients in clinical trials and studies. Arezzo, InferMed's second product, is highly advanced clinical decision support software designed to aid clinicians through the process of diagnosis. Arezzo provides clinical guidelines and protocols at the point-of-care, reducing the risk of misdiagnosis and improving treatment for patients.
InferMed was formed in 1999, as a spinout from the Imperial Cancer Research (now Cancer Research UK) Advanced Computational Laboratory, with the mission to commercialise highly advanced software technology developed for clinical research and practice.
Dr Robert Dunlop, Clinical Director for InferMed, said: "Continual advances in medical science are making the practice of medicine increasingly complex and extremely difficult for clinicians to keep up with current best practice. InferMed's mission is to provide the products to help discover the best treatments, and guide clinicians in making sure those treatments get to the patient. We want to help get the right treatment to the right patient at the right time."
Roger Wallhouse, Chairman of InferMed, added: "Since its creation, the company has had a strong entrepreneurial spirit, which has allowed us to become one of the leading companies in the field of electronic data capture, providing innovative, cutting edge products to researchers and clinicians. We are extremely pleased to receive this award, which highlights the hard work and dedication of our staff."
InferMed's products have been used in clinical trials involving more than 85,000 patients worldwide. Current customers include Roche, Siemens, Organon, Cancer Research UK, the Medical Research Council, and the Institute of Cancer Research
