Two New Cases of Avian Influenza Declared

According to online press (February 21, 2007), the Egyptian Ministry of Health and Population announced Egypt’s 13th avian influenza death, a 37-year-old woman from Fayyoum governorate, about 96 kilometers south of Cairo. The ministry also announced a new case of human avian influenza virus infection. A 5-year-old boy from Sharkia governorate, about 96 kilometers northeast of Cairo, was admitted to the hospital with symptoms and his condition is stable.
