Man Dies After Fire in His Hotel

Feb. 21–VAN WERT — Baldevbhai J. Makwana, 65, died at Van Wert County Hospital after suffering a heart attack Monday. Makwana, owner and operator of Sunset Inn, was brought to the hospital Monday evening after a fire in Room 6 of his building. Capt. Mike Fackler of the Van Wert Fire Department said the fire was caused by a child playing with a lighter under a bed in the room. Fackler said three people were transported to the hospital. He estimated the damages to the room at $250.
