Chinese Girl to Be Returned to Parents

An 8-year-old Chinese girl will be reunited with her biological parents after the Tennessee Supreme Court restored the couple's parental rights.
The parents, Shaoqiang and Qin Luo He, are Chinese immigrants who were struggling with legal and health problems eight years ago when they gave their 1-month-old infant, Anna Mae, to Jerry and Louise Baker of Memphis, USA Today reported.
The Hes say they told the Bakers the arrangement was only temporary, until they could get back on their feet. The Bakers say that was not the case and have spent years trying to adopt the girl.
Attorneys for both couples met Wednesday to work out a plan for reuniting the family.
The Hes say they look forward to working with mental health professionals assigned by the court to ease the custody transition. Louise Baker told USA Today she hopes the Hes are willing to allow them to continue to be part of Anna Mae's life.
