Help for Terminally-Ill Patients in Tayside
MORE terminally-ill patients in Tayside should be able to be cared for at home, as a result of services developed by the charity Marie Curie Cancer Care.
Measures being piloted by the charity include a new palliative care ambulance and more respite hours for carers. Project manager forTayside, Catherine Wood, said 75-per cent of people living in Scotland would prefer to die at home, but in reality almost threequarters are still dying in hospitals.
The charity’s Delivering Choice programme works for three years, piloting improvements to services which are then handed over to local agencies, including the Scottish Ambulance Service, NHS Tayside, and local councils.
