SRS Clinical Document Management System Positions Catawba Women's Center For Pay-For-Performance Bonus

Posted on: Tuesday, 6 March 2007, 15:01 CST

Catawba Women's Center, a leading OB/GYN practice with nine physicians, three nurse midwives, two nurse practitioners and 50 other staff members implemented the SRS Chart Manager™ in mid-2006 to introduce efficiencies and eliminate paper charts for nearly 20,000 active patients. The SRS Software solution also enabled Catawba to validate its procedures for quality care, enabling this Center to successfully participate in the National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA) Bridges to Excellence Program and a pay-for-performance financial incentive from a major managed care payer.

"Imagine our excitement when we realized that the SRS solution not only resolved our paper chart challenges, but also allowed Catawba to improve the quality and efficiency of care for our patients and earn a pay-for-performance reward that will help pay for the system," says Amy Guyer, practice administrator for Catawba.

As part of the managed care plan's pilot program, Catawba was selected to participate in the NCQA survey, completing a report and questionnaire regarding the practice's policies, procedures and electronic capabilities.

With SRS, Catawba has the capability to track referrals for diagnostic services such as mammograms and PAP smears. Their staff can also track patient compliance on recommended preventive or diagnostic services. The SRS system also includes electronic prescribing capabilities, which offer a convenience to both providers and patients.

"The SRS system provides nice merging and meshing of disparate data, and allows us to accurately track patient compliance with recommendations -- a key benchmark for Bridges to Excellence," explains Guyer.

SRS Software, Inc. develops, markets and supports digital chart software for the healthcare industry, enabling medical practices to go paperless while enhancing productivity, reducing overhead and significantly improving the work environment and overall satisfaction of physicians.

"We considered several options and vendors, but our research uncovered widespread dissatisfaction with the learning curve for implementing an EMR and physician frustration with data-entry," says Guyer. "SRS provided a digital chart software solution that really meets our needs, from both pricing and performance perspectives. Now we are teed up for pay-for-performance incentives, and we thank SRS for making it possible."
