Presbyterian Hospital of Dallas Selects the Premier Healthcare Alliance to Better Serve Patients Through Enhanced Labor Resource Management

Posted on: Wednesday, 7 March 2007, 09:02 CST

Presbyterian Hospital of Dallas, the flagship hospital of the Presbyterian Healthcare System, has signed an agreement with the Premier healthcare alliance to use Premier's Performance Partners™ program, a service designed to better serve patients by supplementing an organization's infrastructure for labor management process improvement, redesign and expense reduction.

With an average return-on-investment of 15 to 1, the Performance Partners consulting program is designed for hospitals and health systems that have operational benchmarking and productivity applications in place or are contemplating implementation and desire further assistance in establishing improvement capabilities. As a part of the Performance Partners program, participating health systems receive ongoing, targeted consultation to empower the organization to achieve measurable results.

"Our experience with Premier's Healthcare Informatics services, especially its suite of powerful analytical tools for benchmarking productivity, efficiency and operational effectiveness, served as a springboard for the senior management team to embrace our current engagement with Premier's Performance Partners. We see it as another opportunity to rapidly assimilate national 'best practices' into our stewardship of hospital operations," said Jeffrey Canose, MD, chief operating officer of Presbyterian Hospital of Dallas. "We believe the program will help us efficiently manage our most vital and most expensive assets -- our employees -- while we continually improve the lives of the people in the communities we serve through clinical excellence and service excellence."

Presbyterian Dallas is a member of Texas Health Resources (THR), one of the largest faith-based, nonprofit healthcare delivery systems in the United States. THR currently uses Premier's ClinicalAdvisor™ for quality measurement and benchmarking and Premier's OperationsAdvisor™ to address budgeting improvement efforts and link quality to productivity across its hospitals.

"Best practice organizations such as Presbyterian Hospital of Dallas have realized that having only the right information does not create a complete environment for effective labor management; instead, these organizations maintain a balance of tools, resources and education," said Stephanie Alexander, senior vice president and general manager for Premier Healthcare Informatics. "Premier focuses on developing improvement resources, infrastructure and education, and Performance Partners brings balance to the overall process, working with organizations to achieve long-term successes."
