Fresenius Medical Care to Offer Nephrology Electronic Health Record System for Chronic Kidney Disease

Fresenius Medical Care AG & Co. KGaA (NYSE:FMS) (FWB:FME), the world's largest renal therapy company, today announced that is has entered into an agreement with Health IT Services Group (www.hitsg.com) to license its Web-based electronic health record for nephrologists in the United States to be marketed as Fresenius Medical Care CKD Solutions.

Fresenius Medical Care CKD Solutions offers broad interoperability with other health information systems and includes e-prescribing, as well as performance reporting. The electronic health record for nephrologists enables health care providers to capture and report data for pay-for-quality performance programs.

In addition, the electronic health record will populate a RenalNet CKD Consortium data registry providing an information tool for further research and understanding of chronic kidney disease.

More than 24 million Americans suffer from chronic kidney disease. According to Dr. Frank Maddux who, along with Dr. Dugan W. Under the agreement, Health IT Services Group will provide training to physician practice groups using the software including ongoing support services.
