St. Charles Hospital Personnel Receive AANP Awards

SSM St. Joseph Health Center’s Kimberly Perry, DO, and Lori Schwalm, MSN, RN, have received nursing advocacy and excellence awards from the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners. Perry, medical director of emergency services at the Health Center, received the Missouri Nurse Practitioner Advocate Award for Excellence. The award goes to a non-nurse practitioner who has made significant contributions to the status of health care delivery and the practice of nurse practitioners. Perry is board certified in emergency medicine and has been employed at the Heath Center for more than 10 years.
Schwalm, adult nurse practitioner at the Health Center, received the Missouri Nurse Practitioner Award for Excellence. The award goes to nurses who have demonstrated excellence in health care delivery. Schwalm began her career at the Health Center in 1979 and has been employed as an adult nurse practitioner in the emergency department at the hospital since 2006. She plans to begin pursing a doctorate in nursing at the University of Missouri-Columbia in the fall of 2007.
