US Government Selects Northrop Grumman to Support E-Health Record System

Northrop Grumman has been awarded a follow-on contract from the US department of defense to provide systems engineering and integration support to AHLTA, the nation's largest electronic health record system. The contract is valued at $67.7 million.
AHLTA is the clinical information system managing electronic health records for the department of defense military health system. It supports more than nine million active service members, retirees and their families worldwide.
Under the terms of the contract, Northrop Grumman's IT sector will provide security accreditation and information assurance, management information services, commercial-off-the-shelf product monitoring, and configuration management support to AHLTA.
"With AHLTA, the department of defense has made significant advancements toward achieving the president's goal of making electronic health records available to a majority of Americans by 2014," said Michele Kang, vice president of health solutions for Northrop Grumman IT.
AHLTA gives health care providers access to data about beneficiaries' conditions, prescriptions, diagnostic tests and other information essential to providing quality care. Health care providers get real-time access to medical records, allowing them to deliver safer and more efficient care.
Northrop Grumman has supported the AHLTA system as the primary systems integrator and developer since 1999.
Work on the contract will be conducted in Chantilly, Vancouver, over an eight-month base period with two one-year options.
