Stockton cancer patients are to be offered expert help and advice by a new support service.

Macmillan Cancer Support is encouraging local people who suffer from the disease to sign up for the free six-week Living with Cancer programme.

Throughout the programme, which starts on April 12, participants are able to identify ways of managing symptoms and side effects of treatment, including relaxation techniques and visualisation exercises.

It also aims to help cancer suffers regain their confidence and boost their quality of life.

The programme involves sessions at the University Hospital of North Tees, Stockton.
