Academy of Managed Care Pharmacy Hosts 19th Annual Meeting & Showcase in San Diego, California April 11 - 14th, 2007

The Academy of Managed Care Pharmacy's 19th Annual Meeting & Showcase, a premiere event attended by thousands of managed care pharmacy professionals, will open at the San Diego Convention Center at noon on Wednesday, April 11, 2007. Nationally renowned keynote speakers, inauguration of the Academy's new officers and a gala achievement awards ceremony will highlight the many activities scheduled for the 4-day program. AMCP's array of outstanding educational sessions promises innovative and diverse programming for managed care pharmacy and health care professionals.

CE and CME for Pharmacists, Physicians and Nurses

AMCP's array of professional educational offerings covers the gamut from sponsored symposia exploring the brand-to-generic evolution and chronic disease management to continuing education sessions in emerging areas of study for managed care pharmacy practitioners. Topics include medication therapy management (MTM), appraisal techniques for evaluating practice guidelines, improving the quality of behavioral health prescribing through effective collaboration, PBM contract negotiations, integrating evidence based medicine into pharmacy benefits management, biotechnology in managed care pharmacy, and compelling topics such as where evidence-based medicine, economics, and ethics collide, and connecting health information technology to quality measurement. Courses will be taught by some of the profession's most respected faculty, and AMCP will repeat some of its most requested sessions, including its pharmaceutical pipeline presentation and state and federal legislative updates.

Dr. Benjamin S. Carson, Sr.

Renowned Pediatric Neurosurgeon, Author and Philanthropist

Director of the Division of Pediatric Neurosurgery at Johns Hopkins since 1984, Dr. Carson attained world fame when he was the first surgeon to successfully separate conjoined twins attached at the back of the head, astonishing colleagues and patients alike. A professor of Neurosurgery, Plastic Surgery, Oncology and Pediatrics, Dr. Carson is also the co-director of the Johns Hopkins Craniofacial Center. His practice includes traumatic brain injuries, brain and spinal cord tumors, achondroplasia, neurological and congenital disorders, craniosynostosis, epilepsy and trigeminal neuralgia.
