Teen Dies at Hospital After Party Shooting
A 15-year-old Murray girl shot early Saturday while at a party in West Jordan died later in the afternoon at a local hospital, police reported.
Police were called about 2:30 a.m. to a shooting at the Willow Cove Apartments, 9300 S. Redwood Road, where there was a party. Police said the girl’s boyfriend, an 18-year-old West Jordan man, is suspected in the shooting.
The girl was transported by Life Flight to LDS Hospital in critical condition with a head wound and was later reported deceased after 6 p.m. on Saturday, said West Jordan Police Capt. Gary Cox. The girl’s boyfriend was arrested on suspicion of homicide.
Cox said the name of the victim has not yet been released. At the time of the shooting, about a half-dozen other people were at an apartment where the girl was found. Cox said those people are being interviewed as police gather details about the shooting. Police have not yet said what may have motivated the shooting.
