Liberty Pacific Medical Imaging (LPMI), a developer, owner and operator of diagnostic imaging centers, announced today that Steven R. Renard, president and chief operating officer, was named among Health Imaging & IT's Top 25 Innovators in Healthcare for 2007.
Each year, Health Imaging & IT, a leading diagnostic imaging- and radiology-related industry trade publication, selects 25 top innovators in the healthcare imaging field that have helped the industry advance in various ways. From inventing new tools and reaching the underserved to improving military members' access to care, the winners that were selected this year are helping to drive interoperability and connectivity and improve patient safety and care. According to Health Imaging & IT, they believe these innovators are "virtual catalysts whose efforts are advancing the clinical-IT link, serving as new business models and helping provide less invasive testing and treatments. By proactively addressing clinical and technological needs now, the work of these innovators betters healthcare for all."
The selection process put forth by Health Imaging & IT to choose the top 25 involved soliciting nominations during January and February of 2007, which then culminated in an April 1, 2007 announcement of the winners.
Renard was chosen based on his proven abilities to facilitate better working relationships between cardiologists and radiologists by establishing mutually collaborative reading contract relationships. Additionally, he was also recognized for his vision and skills in integrating the latest technologies into LPMI's outpatient imaging centers and leadership in helping the company become an industry benchmark for expanding new applications in 3D and cardiac imaging.
"I am honored to receive this prestigious recognition from Health Imaging & IT and to be acknowledged within the imaging industry. At LPMI, we have consistently strived to break down the barriers between cardiologists and radiologists and foster better relationships between them to ultimately improve and enhance patient care. We believe we have succeeded as the partnerships we have forged with radiologists and those established between these two specialties have advanced both the delivery of superior patient care as well as our business. Additionally, we have been at the forefront of ensuring our centers boast the latest in technology so as to better serve the patient, payor and physician. We thank Health Imaging & IT for recognizing the efforts put forth by our team of professionals and distinguishing our role within the imaging community. We are pleased that our contributions within the imaging arena are making a difference in the provision of quality testing and patient care," Renard said of his award.
Renard, 37, with more than 15 years of imaging experience, has served as president and COO of both LPMI and Liberty Pacific Medical Management (LPMM), the company's management consulting arm, since 2003. He is a member of Radiology Business Managers Association (RBMA), the American College of Healthcare Executives and the American Healthcare Radiology Administrators (AHRA) and also serves on the Toshiba America Medical Systems speakers panel and sits on General Electrics "Blue Print for Success" advisory panel. He is a published writer within the diagnostic imaging industry.
Renard holds a master's degree in business administration and bachelor of science degree in physical education (physical therapy). He also holds an associate of arts degree in general education from Las Positas Junior College, Livermore, Calif.
