The Company will be making the following poster presentations:

 — Metformin Gum: An Alternative Method for Delivery of Biguanides — Pre-Prandial S.C. Regular Insulin Versus Prandial Generex Oral-lyn(TM) in Type-1 DM Subjects Maintained in Basal S.C. Twice Daily Isophane Insulin (NPH) — Oral Insulin at Lunchtime in Juvenile Type-1 DM Subjects Maintained on Basal Glargine Insulin and Pre-Breakfast and Pre-Dinner Regular Insulin

These posters were co-authored by Doctors Jaime Guevara-Aguirre, Marco Guevara-Aguirre, and Jeannette Saavedra, all of the Institute of Endocrinology IEMYR, Quito, Ecuador. In addition, Dr. David Saldarreaga of IEMYR contributed to the metformin gum study and Dr. Gerald Bernstein, the Generex Vice-President for Medical Affairs, contributed to the study of juvenile patients.

Prediabetes and the Metabolic Syndrome are highly prevalent conditions, affecting between one in six and one in three adults in most developed countries, as well as the urban areas of many developing countries. Both conditions are of significant public health importance because they are associated with a markedly increased risk of diabetes and cardiovascular disease (CVD), thus contributing to the epidemic proportions of these diseases. Diabetes is an important CVD risk factor. Impaired glucose metabolism among cardiac patients is extremely prevalent, and research on the impact of dysglycemia on patients with CVD is expanding. The 2nd International Congress on “Prediabetes” and the Metabolic Syndrome will provide a platform for both doctors and pharmaceutical companies to present their studies and the many new developments in prevention of diabetes and CVD.
