Helping Elderly

Firms are being encouraged to look at work to help the region’s ageing population.

An event was being held by the Centre of Excellence for Life Sciences (CELS) today, linking health businesses.

Prof William Mann, an expert on assisted living from the University of Florida, was appearing to share experiences from his work with the ‘Gator-Tech Smart House’ in America.

Dr Mike Nicholds, director of programme delivery at CELS, said: “We have the institute of ageing and health at Newcastle University and the financial investment for the campus for ageing and vitality within Science City. There is a great opportunity to take a national if not international lead on assistive technologies.”
