BAPTISM SEMINAR

Dr. Melissa Pratt, pastor of the Teays Valley Church of God, will offer a seminar on “An Introduction to Baptism” at 4:30 p.m. Sunday, May 6. The rite of baptism and the Old and New Testament theology of baptism will be discussed. You are invited to learn about baptism, what it is, how it is administered, what it means and other questions you may have.

GOSPEL SING

Eternal Light will sing at 7 p.m. Sunday, May 6, at Red Oak Community Church, Red Oak Drive in Nitro.

PARENT/TEEN WORKSHOP

As part of Family Month, First Baptist Church of Nitro will host free workshops titled “Parent/Teen Understanding” from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday, May 11. Allen and Carolyn Hill, youth ministers at Clarksburg Baptist Church, will lead the workshop for parents on understanding their teenagers, while Rob Ely, director of discipleship ministries for the West Virginia Baptist Convention, will lead the workshop for teenagers on understanding their parents. COUPLES CLASS

Teays Valley Church of God, 4430 Teays Valley Road, Scott Depot, is offering an “Intimate Life” couples class from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. on Wednesdays. The cost for materials is $25 per couple. To register, call 757-9222 or e-mail pastorthom@adelphia.net. There is an optional dinner at 5:30 p.m. each Wednesday.

CLOTHING BANK

Adda Baptist Church offers a free clothing bank for those with clothing needs from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on the last Saturday of each month.

CHURCH COOKBOOK

The Winfield United Methodist Women’s group has collected the best recipes from group members, family and friends and compiled them into a keepsake cookbook. The 400-recipe book costs $10. For more information, call 586-3795 or 586-1714.

FRIENDSHIP CIRCLE

Freedom Christian Center in Teays Valley, on the hill by the Putnam County Library, will start a Friendship Circle 45 minutes before the 7 p.m. Wednesday services. Offering light food and fellowship, the circle will continue until further notice. Call Pastor Cline for more information at 757-2456. Sunday services are at 10:30 a.m. and 6 p.m.

FOOD PANTRY

The Food Pantry at Scott Depot Christ Fellowship on Teays Valley Road is open from 9 to 11 a.m. on the third Saturday of every month. For more information, call 757-9166.

COOKBOOKS

St. Peter’s United Methodist Women has a new hardback cookbook for sale that features a variety of recipes. The cookbooks are $12 each and can be purchased by calling Sarah Barnette, church secretary, at 727-7531 or Lou Godby at 727-6135.
