National Conference Focused On Helping Companies Looking To Save Health Care Dollars

Companies do not often have to be reminded of rising health care costs. Every day there are stories in the news talking about how Starbucks spends more on healthcare than on coffee beans and GM spends more on healthcare than on steel to make cars. For small and mid-size companies, healthcare costs are even more crippling. To help alleviate the staggering cost of healthcare, many companies have turned to health savings accounts. The problem, however, is many companies do not know where to start. Until now.
Business Capital Edge has brought together many companies who have already implemented health savings accounts to talk about how they did it at HSA 2007, a national conference scheduled for June 13-14 in Chicago.
The goal of HSA 2007 is to provide a forum for employers looking to saving money on healthcare by learning from organizations who have already benefited by implementing Health Savings Accounts.
Three of the 15 organizations speaking will be Zions Bancorporation, EOS Airlines and Bowden Manufacturing.
Zions Bancorporation will detail how its aggressive communication campaign to reach out to its several thousand employees in several states resulted in a huge HSA enrollment. EOS Airlines will discuss how it designed and implemented HSAs to control costs, improve employee health and create highly competitive benefits. And mid-size manufacturer Bowden Manufacturing will present a case study on how it decided to use outside help to administer its plan, promote employee understanding and increase employee enrollment.
Because of the legal and tax issues involved with health savings accounts, the second day of the conference will feature three of the top HSA attorneys in the country -- Ashley Gillihan of Alston & Bird in Atlanta, Susan Nash of McDermott Will & Emery in Chicago, and Cheryl Hughes of Sanders, Schnabel & Brandenburg in Washington, D.C.
Respectively, they will address:
● What you need to communicate to your employees/HSA accountholders and what actions you must take to accommodate the many provisions under H.R. 6111
● Tax and Legal Issues Impacting HSA Design and Administration
● Understanding Interaction between HSAs and ERISA
